This morning Reese returned unexpectedly early from what should have been an all day meeting, so we all jumped in the jeep and headed up to camp for a ride. We expected it to be pretty as it had snowed about an inch here at our house, but when we got up there we were so excited to find 4-5 fresh new inches of snow!! Reese took us to my favorite, favorite, favorite place on the entire property...it's called the Big Sandy. It's a creek nestled amongst and running through tons of Hemlocks. It's as fabulous in the wintertime as it is in the summer. Many of you who have come up to camp have been there with us. We had a glorious morning...I'm smiling just thinking about it. So here you go...winter wonderland at the big sandy.
Fresh, untouched snow...all ours.
The limbs were hanging so heavily with snow that we pretended we were going through a "snow wash" instead of a "car wash"...Mitchell loved it, giggling and sticking his head out the window every opportunity he had.
Love these shots of us above!
Here we are...the bridge at the big sandy.
Just after we crossed the bridge a gust of wind came along and created a really heavy snow shower from all the snow on the trees...we were all laughing and ended up soaking wet with snow.
snow capped mushrooms!!
amazing!
and then it was time to sled! The first time for Mitchell on his new blue sled that he has been "practicing" on in our family room the past few days!
squealing with excitement!
taking a spin with daddy!
and then it was time for snow angels...
and just as we were getting ready to leave, the sky cleared a bit to the west allowing the sun to peek through (above), but to the east a snow shower came toward us and we ended the day with the following two pics...my absolute fave shots of the day.
Bliss. Heaven on earth. I am thankful.
